Open House New York (OHNY) is a nonprofit organization that promotes unparalleled access to the city—to the places, people, projects, systems, and ideas that define New York and its future.

Since 2001, OHNY has promoted openness as a key civic principle. Through year-round activities, including the annual OHNY Weekend, they provide a citywide platform for education and exploration, fostering discussions about the connection between place and quality of life for all New Yorkers. OHNY’s aims to ensure every New Yorker enjoys full access to the greatest city in the world.

  • Project Brief

    Since our initial collaborations in 2020, which involved creating the branding for their innovative program, 'Radical Knowledge: Libraries as Community Catalysts,' and their highly anticipated Spring Benefit—marking the first in-person event post the COVID-19 pandemic—Alfalfa Studio has understood the essence of the OHNY brand and its significant impact on the city.

    Since then, Alfalfa Studio has collaborated closely with OHNY, shaping and refining the OHNY brand universe. Our graphic design contributions span across their logo, website, social media presence, and year-long programming.

    Approach

    Armed with a deep understanding of OHNY’s branding requirements, Alfalfa Studio has been instrumental in ensuring that every facet of the OHNY’s brand ecosystem maintains consistency, engages its audience effectively, and furthers their mission leaving a lasting positive impression.

    Our work has included refreshing their visual identity with updated colors, crafting campaigns and fundraising events such as their spring benefit, amplifying their presence on social media, and managing all branding elements of their flagship event—the eagerly awaited Open House New York Weekend.
