“An homage to all delicious shades of brown with a stop-motion animation full of whimsy and beauty. Art comes to the life in this playfully paper-collaged vignette entitled Chocolate.” — Stephanie Orma, California Home + Design.”

  • Project Brief

Kate Spade New York commissioned Alfalfa Studio to create an original animation to celebrate the month of October, as part of their “Year of Color” campaign.

    Approach

Alfalfa Studio proposed the concept, conducted the research, created original collage illustrations, produced dozens of cut paper collages, directed the story and animation, and supervised all production and post-production aspects, including sound effects and music, to deliver a salute to the rich color of chocolate.

    Outcome

The one-minute stop-motion animation imagines the secret life of an eclectic salon wall. It's an enchanted story for October, set to the sweet music of Grammy-nominated musician Carla Morrison, while keeping in tune with the personality of the Kate Spade brand.
