The truth is there are many calculators out there. But let’s face it most of them are not great looking neither do things the way we like them. They are good if you don’t need to email your calculations or keep your results for next time. That’s the calculator Shifts calls “for them.”

Luckily, designer Joshua Distler and his team at Shift, created the calculator for the rest of us.

The Digits Calculator was born out of need and curiosity. What would happen if we take a simple calculator and empower it with a bunch of useful, user friendly and fun functions?

The elegant Digits Calculator for iPad + iPhone is destined to become an essential app. It features scrolling history tape, a pop-up tape editing menu, undo/scrollback, autosave, unlimited memory and a customizable background. It leaves cramped buttons behind for an elegant and customizable user interface.

Designer and entrepreneur Josh Distler has worked with numerous firms including IDEO, Metadesign, Studio Dumbar, Wolff Olins and Apple. He has, also, designed a bunch of cool typefaces released by Shift Font Library.
